Abstract:
This presentation will review the diagnostic criteria for Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), outline the characteristics of its three sub-types, and offer detailed interventions for providers working with this population. In addition to the above information, we will discuss how the traditional eating disorder treatment model can be ineffective for clients with ARFID and how providers can shift their approach to treat clients most successfully.
Objectives:
– Identify subtypes of ARFID.
– Explain different interventions for various ARFID presentations.
– Utilize Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) to integrate more foods into their clients’ diets
